High key and Low Key

High Key

is a type of photography  which uses unnaturally bright lighting which dissolves the shadows in a image. Hey key images usually sends a positive or upbeat tone. This method is a perfect for a subject that is funny or beautiful.   Here is an example of a photographer who has used this In his work.

By David Bailey

The following image below is an example of David Bailey high key work, the image was taken in 1965 of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. David Bailey was born in east London. Here are some of my examples of High Key which I took in the studio

Here is a few examples  of my work which I took in the study below.

Low Key

Low key is a style of lightning which is used in  photography, film and television. It is a important element  in creating a chiaroscuro (uses strong tonal contrasts between light and dark to model three-dimensional forms, often to show a  dramatic effect) The low key lightning only uses one key light which is optionally controlled with a fill of a light or even a simple reflector.

Sean McGrath is also the CEO and founder of Code & Hustle, a software company that focuses on creating tools for professional photographers. Here is one of his pieces of work which he had produced (Low key).

Here are the following images which I had taken for Low key

These are my evidence of High key and low Key. These images represent portrait photography. I believe the task was success as I decided to take the pictures in different angles and trying to catch the moment when people are doing something. As you can see in one of the images that I decided to take a picture inside another picture.

The following images was taken with a canon. The following equipment I used in the studio were:

  • Canon
  • Camera stand
  • Light stand
  • Light
  • Soft Box
  • Reflector
